Beach Boat Coble Cottage Exterior

Northumberland

Northumberland offers you a wide range of places to visit and things to do, the majority of which are all within easy travelling distance of Coble Cottage. Our roads are relatively quiet and on occasions you will never pass another vehicle.

Boulmer Village itself is steeped in history as it was once the haunt of smuggler. The Fishing Boat Inn was closely connected with smugglers and dubbed the smuggling capital of Northumberland. Contrabanders came from all over Northumberland and the Scottish borders to deal in illicit goods. Needless to say it's a lot more law abiding in Boulmer now and you can get a drink and excellent meal in comfortable surroundings at the Fishing Boat Inn.

History & Heritage

From its turbulent past Northumberland offers you a magnificent range of castles and heritage sites. On our doorstep we have Alnwick Castle the home of the Duke of Northumberland and its prestigious Anwick Garden Project Warkworth and Bamburgh castles. Archaeological treasures include the famous heritage site of Hadrian's wall and Stone Age Rock Art.
